Come out to support the relief efforts in Chile with a great night of music. In the early morning hours of Feb. 27, 2010, one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded tore apart houses, bridges and highways in central Chile and sent a tsunami racing halfway around the world. The devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck less than 100 miles north from the southwest coastal city of Concepcion but caused damage as far away as the capital Santiago, nearly 200 miles away. The full extent of damage remains unclear as dozens of aftershocks measuring a magnitude of 5.0 or stronger torment the nation. Early reports indicate approximately 500,000 homes sustained considerable damage, and 2 million people have been affected by the quake including hundreds of casualties. It’s estimated that it will take between 5-7 years and billions of dollars for the area to recover.
The “Concert for Chile” was born out of NYC-based singer/songwriter Craig Greenberg’s desire to give back to the city of Concepcion, which gave him his first break as a musician. Concepcion was the hardest hit city in this recent natural disaster.
