MEDIA RECAP: KANYE WEST

Late Saturday, October 23, just hours after the MTV premiere of his short film Runaway, Kanye West blessed the Brooklyn Bowl crowd with an uber-special surprise show. The house was packed for the Fool’s Gold 3rd Anniversary Showcase, which featured A-Trak (label founder and Kanye’s tour DJ) and CyHi Da Prynce (also signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. record label), and culminated the third day of Pitchfork’s #OFFLINE Festival. In true Kanye fashion, he made his intro on stage by busting out during CyHi’s song “So Appalled,” this time more than welcomed by the huge crowd. West tore through four songs from his weekly “Good Fridays” series, including “Monster,” “Power,” “Devil in a New Dress,” and “Runaway,” rocking huge jewelry and a big fat grin, while A-Trak manned the turntables and the crowd went crazy. THEN, as if Kanye wasn’t enough, the one and only GZA made an appearance, unleashing two classic Wu-Tang songs upon the crowd: “Liquid Swords” and “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.” Needless to say, it was a big night at Brooklyn Bowl.
